The late Paul Casey grew up in the northern part of Butler County, Missouri. He attended Bluewater School, a one-room schoolhouse, and later boarded in town with family to graduate from Poplar Bluff High School in 1936. This scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding sophomore after his or her first two semesters in the Air Force ROTC Cadet Corps and will be activated in the fall semester of their respective sophomore year. The student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 after the spring semester of his or her freshman year. A cadet can only be awarded the scholarship for one academic year.
The following year, she released "Get It Right", produced by Luther Vandross. In January 1972, she returned to Gospel music in a two-night, live-church recording, with the album Amazing Grace, in which she reinterpreted standards such as Mahalia Jackson's "How I Got Over". Originally released in June 1972, Amazing Grace sold more than two million copies, and is one of best-selling gospel albums of all time.

The band's 1977 album News of the World contained "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions", which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. "Another One Bites the Dust" from The Game became their best-selling single, while their 1981 compilation album Greatest Hits is the best-selling album in the UK and is certified nine times platinum in the US. Their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert is ranked among the greatest in rock history by various publications. In August 1986, Mercury gave his last performance with Queen at Knebworth, England.
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in Theatre who has a 3.0 GPA. First preference shall be given to first-generation college students. Linda Lattin Burns was a professor of English and Secondary Education at Southeast Missouri State University for 33 years. A graduate of McPherson High School, she received her Bachelor of Science in education and Master of Arts in English from Emporia State University. She taught at Wyandotte High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia before joining the English staff at Southeast as a Lecturer . She joined with other wives as part of a suit against the University for wives of faculty to be given full-faculty status.

On 13 March 2004, Pavarotti gave his last performance in an opera at the New York Metropolitan Opera, for which he received a long standing ovation for his role as the painter Mario Cavaradossi in Giacomo Puccini's Tosca. Pavarotti and his manager, Terri Robson, commissioned impresario Harvey Goldsmith to produce the Worldwide Farewell Tour. His last full-scale performance was at the end of a two-month Australasian tour in Taiwan in December 2005. At the beginning of the 1980s, he set up The Pavarotti International Voice Competition for young singers, performing with the winners in 1982 in excerpts of La bohème and L'elisir d'amore. The second competition, in 1986, staged excerpts of La bohème and Un ballo in maschera.
The Wehking Scholarship is awarded to a student whose school spirit is demonstrated by involvement in various activities. This scholarship was created in memory of Ms. Mildred Wallace by her numerous friends and her longtime employer, Lone Star Industries. Before her death, Ms. Wallace was actively involved in many civic organizations and worked tirelessly for the betterment of the community. The recipient will be a Southeast Missouri State University student majoring in Music, with a minimum 2.7 GPA and verified financial need. Preference will be given to relatives of Denver and Betty Wagganer, followed by residents of Fredericktown, Missouri. Raymond H. Vogel received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1937 and a J.D.
Queen (band)
Jay Wolz is the Director of Alumni Relations at Southeast Missouri State University. He is a 1977 graduate of Southeast with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. While a student at Southeast, Jay was editor-in-chief of the Capaha Arrow and was a member of the KRCU staff, the Golden Eagles marching band, University Players and Phi Sigma Epsilon.
Franklin toured outside the US for the first time in May, including an appearance at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, where she played to a near-hysterical audience who covered the stage with flower petals. Franklin recorded 112 charted singles on the US Billboard charts, including 73 Hot 100 entries, 17 top-ten pop singles, 100 R&B entries and 20 number-one R&B singles. Franklin won 18 Grammy Awards , including the first eight awards given for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (1968–1975), a Grammy Awards Living Legend honor and Lifetime Achievement Award. They continued to reside in Cape Girardeau for the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Scully passed away on October 12, 1998, and was much loved by many at the university and throughout Southeast Missouri. The recipient must have a 3.0 GPA and financial need as verified by the FAFSA. The student should have demonstrated academic achievement and a strong desire for a career in technical aspects of theatre. The Schmitz Scholarship is awarded to a student who has declared a major in the Harrison College of Business and Computing and who demonstrates financial need. The Russell Scholarship is for home economics majors at any grade level.
Charles R. Stamp, Jr. is a native of Sikeston, Mo., and received his BA with a major in political science from Southeast Missouri State in 1971. While a student at Southeast, he was active on campus as a member of the golf team and Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduation, he attended law school at University of Missouri’s School of Law, earning his law degree in 1974, and returned to Southeast Missouri to practice law in Sikeston from 1974 to 1981. This award may go to students attending the main campus, regional campuses, or one of the higher education centers.
Nancy graduated from Southeast in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education and, as Charles was attending engineering school, she taught elementary school in Rolla, Missouri. After their son and daughter were in college, Nancy did graduate work at Eastern Michigan University and worked as a counselor at an alternative high school in Brighton, Michigan, retiring in 1996. The award will go to an outstanding new or returning student attending Southeast Missouri State University who participates in the department's annual scholarship auditions. The recipient must have a declared major in the Department of Theatre and Dance with an emphasis in Musical Theatre. Recipients must participate in the annual scholarship auditions for renewal consideration. Navy Seabees, he became a member of the VFW, American Legion, Seabee Island 5 as their Commander, and is active with the SEMO Vets Corp Alumni.
The applicants must have a B average and financial need will be a consideration. Mrs. Evalyn Nunley established this scholarship in honor of her late husband, S. He then came back to Cape Girardeau and operated the Nunley Drug School until his death in 1989. He is fondly remembered in the community as a pharmacist and friend.
During his tenure, he at one time served as the Department Head for Social Sciences. The purpose of this one-time award is to provide international opportunities for full-time students at Southeast Missouri State University. This award may be used toward any of the international programs sponsored by the University provided it results in college credit. It may be given for any purpose including travel and living expenses.
He was a professor of chemistry at Southeast Missouri State University from 1964 until he retired in 1990. He belonged to the Missouri State Teachers Association, the American Chemical Society, the Hopeful Investment Club, and the Optimists. The recipient of this scholarship must be a senior at Scott City High School ranked in the top one-third of his or her class. He or she must be enrolled as a full-time student at Southeast Missouri State University. Mike graduated from Southeast in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a Marketing major. His wife, Dr. Barbara Kohlfeld, graduated in 1975 with a Master of Arts degree in Education.
